The new welder came in!  The packaging was very secure.  As you can see, there’s heavy duty bubble wrap on the outer corners of the box.

Upon opening the box is a second flap protecting the top side.

And opening that up yields the welder sitting in between molded foam inserts and a box with the accessories.

2013 Everlast PowerTig 200DX AC/DC tig welder on order!

I just preordered the 2013 Dual Voltage 110/220 Everlast PowerTig 200DX welder.  Like many of my readers, I like to get the most bang for the buck with my equipment.  I selected this unit because of the dual voltage flexibility, ac/dc capabilities, ac frequency adjustment, pulse, it includes the pedal (!), and the 5 year warranty.  Even the current big box welder suppliers only support 3 year warranties if you buy the machines brand new for 3x-5x the price.  For the specs of the 2012 unit, check it out here.  Here’s a shot of the new control panel:
